Oklahoma, what is seen to be the "reddest" state, has a significant and growing number of people who are not anything like Oral Roberts, Toby Keith, Tom Coburn or even sweet Carrie Underwood. No, they have a lot more in common with Will Rogers, Woody Guthrie, Bill Moyers, Brad Pitt and (a-hem) Elizabeth Warren -- all Okies, y'all.
And they are not about to be left out of this new movement, and not about to let their state continue to be the bottom of every good list and the top of every bad.
Occupy OKC will begin the occupation in downtown Oklahoma City, tomorrow, Oct. 10, at 6pm.

I'm not going to technically occupy, leaving that to the many young people who have organized and lead this vibrant new movement here.
I've been organizing here since 2003, and never seen most of them. But they are smart, informed and seem quite capable. For the first time in decades, I feel like the cause of justice is going to be in good hands when mine are too shaky to do the work anymore.
I and my other older organizer comrades, from the Peace House Oklahoma City and other local groups, are extremely excited and will give all the support and encouragement we can.
If you are in Central Oklahoma, come on down! We are taking the park, the city, the state and the heartland back from the heartless.
