Good Morning Kossacks and Welcome to Morning Open Thread
We're here every morning between 6:30 and 7:00. Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanent or just once in awhile. With the autopublish feature you can set it and forget it. Quite often the diarist de jour shows up much later, that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Just let us know in the comments.
It's been really interesting in town lately, as y'all have read. Others have covered things really well, so I don't have a whole lot to add. As I write this, the Tennessean has reported that the state has been ordered to stop arresting the protesters.
It's worth showing, I think, just what was so God-awful that over 100 state patrol officers had to spend two nights arresting people.
Here is a picture of Legislative Plaza in its entirety:
Now, a closer-up shot of the left side:
That, folks, is the area where the tents were set up. That's it. What a bunch of troublemakers they were too!!!! Gov. Haslam really shot himself in the foot over this, and I'm loving it!
I also saw this on my way to work yesterday. It looks like Chet is playing it cool and keeping warm in front of the Bank of America ATM. I'll bet he wishes he could spend eternity on a different corner.
That reminds me, even though SunTrust bank just announced that it wouldn't charge its $5 debit card fee, it's too late - I already switched everything over to my new account and I'll close the old one this week.
On that note, it's time to jibber jabber. Happy All Saints Day!
