Yes, yesterday really was a Super Tuesday for the A-team because there was soooo much good progressive news!!! What follows is a list of those accomplishments with citations to add to our talking points. Check this:
1. NBC Poll: Obama 49, Romney 43 / Obama 53, Cain 38 / Republican 42, Obama 45
2. Eric Erickson slammed Romney with this: “Mitt Romney is not the George W. Bush of 2012 — he is the Harriet Miers of 2012, only conservative because a few conservative grand pooh-bahs tell us Mitt Romney is conservative and for no other reason.”
3. Conservatives are going nuts about their Reagan appointed Judicial darling writing the opinion to support the individual mandate. Here’s a taste:
“Brutal: D.C. Circuit upholds ObamaCare mandate — in opinion authored by Reagan appointee
Not just any Reagan appointee, either. It’s Laurence Silberman, a guy I’ve described before quite rightly as a “conservative judicial icon.” (Frum Forum has a quickie bio.) Four years ago, he wrote the landmark D.C. Circuit opinion striking down Washington’s gun ban as a violation of the Second Amendment; a year later, the Supremes affirmed his decision. And now … this.
Dude, I’m nervous"
4. The lie about Obama losing Hispanics is finally over. Check out these results from Latino Decisions for Univision:
Among registered Latino voters in the 21 most Latino-heavy states, Obama’s advantage is far greater, exceeding two-to-one margins in every case. The president is up 65 percent to 22 percent on Cain, 67 percent to 24 percent on Romney and 68 percent to 21 percent on Perry. That will come as welcome news to the White House as the president prepares for what is shaping up to be a difficult re-election campaign.
5. Politico created their own list and reported the next five findings in this article...with my editorials.
Remember the crazy people in Mississippi who wanted to give voting rights to a fertilized egg? Well, they are shot down!!
“Mississippi voters dealt a surprise defeat to a broad anti-abortion initiative on the state’s ballot. The initiative would have amended the state constitution to give fetuses the full rights of “persons” from the moment of fertilization. The measure failed 58 percent to 42 percent.”
6. This one is so sweet: “Voters repealed a law backed by Republican Gov. John Kasich limiting public employees’ collective bargaining rights, according to The Associated Press. Issue 2 failed by a vote of 39 percent to 61 percent, according to The Associated Press, with 99 percent of precincts reporting.”
7. "Democratic Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear cruised to a second term, beating Republican David Williams, the state Senate president by more than 20 points, 56 percent to 35 percent."
8. Remember this crazy dude: "In Arizona, Senate President Russell Pearce, the architect of the state’s controversial crackdown on illegal immigration, was brought down in a recall battle, according unofficial results from the Arizona Secretary of State. Pearce was being challenged by fellow Republican Jerry Lewis, and polls have indicated a tight race."
9. "Republicans were unable to take control of the Virginia state Senate, but remained in limbo on the chance to force a tie in the chamber."
10. "New Jersey Democrats held on to majorities in both chambers, picking up a seat in the state Assembly. The election was held under a new district map approved earlier this year that was considered a blow to Republicans."
We could also talk about Herman Cain’s fourth accuser, Maine’s keeping the “vote-same-day” law or the two new polls that show Americans prefer Democrats over Republicans in the house by 8 and 5 percent.
Let’s go, let’s go, let’s keep fighting for the 99%!!!!!
Yes!!
