This happened, wait let me pinch myself - ahhh - yes this actually happened.
From the Seattle Times:
Jamie Dimon isn't losing sleep over the Occupy Wall Street protests, although the chief executive of JPMorgan Chase & Co. says he understands Americans' frustration with the poor economic recovery...
Dimon said he can understand their frustration with Wall Street and Washington, D.C.
"They're right. In general, these big institutions of America let them down," he said.
Amazing. This is actually beyond the statement Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit made on OWS when he claimed "Their sentiments are completely understandable."
So.. what's going on?
Well now that I've picked my jaw up off the floor let's look at the full statement:
Dimon said he can understand their frustration with Wall Street and Washington, D.C.
"They're right. In general, these big institutions of America let them down," he said. "That's not the same thing as to say that every bank was bad, every politician was bad. That's where I would disagree."
The chief executive, who considers himself a fiscally conservative Democrat, said that contrary to what some think, big corporations contribute to the economy because they "pay their people more, are more diverse, with health benefits. It isn't like they're the bad actors here."
Another parasite Democrat. There are really quite a few. It's also one of the reasons the party is going to have a fun time trying to get anyone to trust them on economic issues - lots of Wall Street Democrats. It actually does make sense to bribe both sides.
But apparently Dimon does agree that there are Banksters abusing the public's trust, he's just not one of them, somehow.
Dimon also acknowledged what the right wing hacks at AEI openly refuse to acknowledge, that inequality is, you know, a fact:
"America has become more inequitable in the last 10 or 20 years. That's a fact," he said. "I don't personally think that's a good thing. I've been a big supporter of progressive taxes.
He said 1+1=2! And he's a Democrat. Sold! Forget it guys, OWS can end now! The 1% really get it!
Well there was this:
A measure named after Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., aimed at reining in debit card fees, was the most unfair, he said.
"It had nothing to do with the crisis. That was a miscarriage of justice," he said.
What a "miscarriage of justice" oh no capping debit card fees. How can he go on?
-----------------
Look, it's clear Dimon and Pandit are paying lip service to Occupy Wall Street. They are a lot smarter than their fellow travelers in the right wing hackasphere. But make no mistake their lobbyists are doing their dirty work for them, that's kind of why there are lobbyists. And when they have those private $13,000 plate dinners with Obama, you better believe they aren't telling him how "right" and "understandable" Occupy Wall Street is.
It's nice to see our overlords at least faking it - but that's not a substitute for meaningful change.
