Apparently not every Bankster is as smart as Jamie Dimon - who said OWS was right generally just not about him.
Richard Davis is the Chairman, President and CEO of U.S Bancorp, a Fortune 500 company. Davis was formerly a member of the Federal Reserve of the 9th District and - get this - former Chairman of the Financial Services Roundtable. For those who don't know, when Congress is getting bribed by Wall Street to not prosecute for crimes or really any special favors the Financial Services Roundtable are calling the plays.
So what did member of the 1% and CEO of one of the largest Banks Richard Davis have to say regarding prosecutions for law breaking on Wall Street? From Protest News:
"'Everybody's breaking the rules, blah blah blah,'" Davis said at one point, admonishing the assembled business leaders to "get over it."
... you've got to be fucking kidding me. People are breaking the law "get over it." Seriously? That's the 1%'s view on this whole situation? Just get over it.
The context of the quote makes it even worse, from the same story:
US Bank President Richard Davis addressed the 1% at a Minnesota Chamber of Commerce luncheon this afternoon while the 99% protested outside.
He's saying that to the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce while Occupy Minnesota is protesting outside - holy Marie Antoinette!
(more after the jump)
What is Mr. Davis telling everyone to "get over"? How about one of the biggest frauds in American history. As evidenced by the evidence.
* Citigroup just offered to pay $285 million for committing fraud in the CDO mortgage market which, according to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, partly cause the 2008 meltdown.
* Goldman Sachs was cited by the United States Senate for the same crisis-causing conduct, with an added caveat - lying to congress.
* Every Too Big To Fail Bank is trying to negotiate a settlement for Fraud in the Mortgage Market - in fact they are lobbying so hard with so much success that NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and CA Attorney General Kamala Harris dropped out of the settlement because it was becoming a joke.
And it goes on.
It is no longer a question if Wall Street committed fraud and caused the crisis - they did - it's now a question of whether Wall Street should be held accountable for their misdeeds. According to Bankster Davis, No. Just "get over it."
See Richard Davis believes something that is a very powerful tool for rationalization but is also completely untrue - that he and his Bankster friends are "successful" people. That they deserve their wealth and power because they are so innovative and excellent. That the 1% are the 1% out of merit.
Problem? It's not in any way true. Successful people don't need bailouts. Successful people don't need special deals or fines without admitting wrongdoing. In short, Successful people don't need Crony Capitalism - Losers do and Mr. Davis and his Bankster pals are losers, and their failures are burying this country in septic corruption and incapacity. That's the price of incompetence and corruption, failure.
So yes, there needs to be an application of law to crimes. Sorry, we can't just "get over it" we have to try to maintain and build a society here. Of course that's not really Wall Street's game is it? Banksters don't create, they live off the buying and selling of others. Like parasites they make demands on the host and offer nothing in return, that is the true nature of the Top 1% in America - demand sacrifice and increased production and refuse REFUSE to pay any taxes to assist in meeting those demands.
What, you can't be as productive as those Chinese slaves? What, you want to go to college and not become a debt slave? What, you're upset we break the law continuously then pay off the regulators with sweet jobs at our companies? Get Over It!
Unfortunately for Mr. Davis, we aren't getting over it - We're Getting Organized!
