You told us to be patient. It would happen if we just waited.
We're getting tired of you telling us that.
When George W. Bush and his cronies stole the 2000 election, you told us to wait. You would take care of it. In 2002, you would take back Congress, and you would undo all the damage they did, and this joke of a President would be a lame duck until you beat him in the next Presidential election.
It didn't happen.
Then, you told us to wait until 2004, when you would put a Democrat in the White house. He and his team would right the mistakes made by the Bush administration. You would use his mandate to right the wrongs and undo the damage done since 2002
It didn't happen.
Then, you told us to wait until 2006, when the wave of popular revolt against the misguided policies of 5 years of Bush Republicans would sweep you into control of both houses of Congress. When that happened, you would use your new majorities to correct the mistakes made by the administration and ensure that the corporate-friendly policies and lax oversight of corporate-controlled government agencies would end.
It didn't happen.
Then, you told us to wait until you put a Democrat in the White House in 2008. That would fix everything. You would have control of both Congress and the Presidency. You would give us everything we were asking for. Health care for all. The end of tax cuts for the rich. Regulation of industries that were destroying our planet. Everything.
It didn't happen.
You told us to wait until you could muster a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. That would be the solution to everything.
It didn't happen. Are you starting to sense a theme here?
Now you are telling us to wait until the President wins a second term, and until he has a solid Democratic majority behind him to enact real change. Even while the Republican minority continues to control the political agenda of the country.
We are getting tired of waiting. It's time for you to act like you're the party in charge!
