After three weeks the Occupy Seattle encampment at Seattle Central Community College,
the group is once again under duress as the college administration tries to force the protesters off the campus.
Occupy Seattle has maintained an encampment at Seattle Central Community College for three weeks. OS moved to SCCC after police harassment and arrests caused the group to relocate from Westlake Park. There are currently over 100 tents at the college - one of the largest Occupy Wall Street encampments in the nation.
The board of regents for Seattle Community College is holding a meeting today to pass a proposal to create an emergency "no camping policy" on the campus.
Since the state law regulating the use of state funded college campuses contains no prohibitions on camping, the Occupy Seattle legal team has filed for a court ordered injunction to stop the eviction.
Mayor Mike McGinn has already made it clear that he will allow the college to use city resources (police) to force the demonstrators off the campus. Many of the teachers and students at the college say they will support Occupy Seattle no matter what happens.
It is a tense situation for the occupiers in Seattle on this Thanksgiving holiday.
Some people at the camp are worried about another potential clash with police.
Many OS participants have remarked that the college's decision to evict Occupy Seattle sends the wrong message for this time of the year.
