(Pronounced, fahtho)
Fado is Portugese Torch Song. It is longing and loss; deep, loving despair. Not solely romantic despair, but grief for every kind of loss. It is a torch song for all we love, and all our ways of loving.
The Fado Queen, RIP.
I don't understand Portugese, but I get Fado.
Passion.
Cape Verde is an island off Northwestern Africa, a former Portugese colony, where Fado is sung and played masterfully.

More optimism?

Shall we dance?
Fado continues to evolve, in all its striations. But a deep commitment to the form runs thru every song.
Fado means Destiny, Fate, but to me, it means Torch, Flame.
It smoulders and it burns bight. And it moves the soul. It's Portugese soul music.
Some of these don't qualify for Fado in its pure form, but it only goes to show how alive Portugese music is.
Hope you enjoyed.
If there are any Portugese speakers here, give us some translations, k?
