The New York Times is reporting in an article published yesterday (apparently under our radar screen) that:
"Members of both parties told the panel that Medicare should offer a fixed amount of money to each beneficiary to buy coverage from competing private plans, whose costs and benefits would be tightly regulated by the government. "
I believe the "panel" was for the uneptly named and failed "Supercongress."
WHAT nonsense is this? NO candidate for office will EVER get my support who tries to shift Medicare into the private sector. NOT ONE. NOT EVEN OBAMA. No way. No how.
And what is the "new budget" mentioned in the article that prevents decreases to payments to doctors and hospitals from exceeding 2% in any given year?
Article here.
I haven't seen anything about this here, so I thought y'all might need someone to bring it to your attention as you prepare your turkey leftovers.
