Well at least my last gig at the Mississippi Pizza Pub.
For the last ten years my band mates and I have played there every first Thursday. It was a pretty decent gig because we got to pick the opening act for the night which simplified the switch over. Our drummer would set up his set and let the openers use it. I would set up the PA with our mics, stands, and cables (and monitors for the first 9 years!). This way I knew exactly what was what and adjusting the mixer was a no brainier, same settings every time. I would do the sound for the opening act and when it was time for them to break down all they had to do was clear their instruments and amps (if they had any) off the stage and we could move our gear on and set up without any fuss.
The rest of the story after the Fleur-de-Kos.
If any of you have ever done the band switch tango, you can understand that the way we did it was much less of a hassle. No waiting around for the first band to quit yakking with their friends, no messing with replacing mics etc. Nothing worse than an opening act diddling around getting off the stage.
Anyway a couple months ago the management thought it would be better if they booked the opening act. Well this did not sit well with us. After much discussion we decided that we would end our 10 year run and find another venue. As the "equipment manager" I'm getting too old and cranky to put up with the band switch tango.
Anyway if you want to see who we are and what we do, you can visit the band's page
Loose Change home and listen to our 2008 IVAW Memorial Day benefit concert. Its not bad considering its from a single camera that videoed us.
Our history is here.
We were "Loose Change" before the truthers hijacked the name.
As always, we ask for donations for Veterans For Peace chapter 72. If you are in the PDX metro area, consider this an invite.
