Chalk another victory up for the working class:
Lynch vetoed the bill in May, but House Speaker William O'Brien had been working to get enough votes to override the veto. But the override attempt failed on a 240-139 vote, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed.
Even though Lynch is what one would normally call a "moderate" he has helped veto some really extreme legislation in our state, including repealing our cap and trade program, "pension reform", and a law that would expand deadly use of force.
I refer to myself as a very liberal person, and even though Lynch is moderate on a few things, I think he's been one of the best governors that NH has ever had. He also has to deal with these teahadists very often. For instance, this is the type of shit he has to deal with:
On 11/18, a group including several state reps became unruly after the NH Ballot Commission refused to remove Pres. Obama from the Presidential Primary ballot after they presented their claim that he was not born in the US. The group became so aggressive that some state officials called for police assistance.
It's going to be a pain to see him leave and hopefully he doesn't get replaced with one of these people. This next election is going to be of a defining question: Are we going to let these regressive dinosaurs set the agenda? People are waking up to this bullshit, hopefully fast enough to stop them.
I would now like to say what has been on a sign of mine at various occupy events that I've been to.
We are winning.
