I noticed on Talking Points Memo that Newt responded to a Mittens attack line calling him a Washington insider by referring to himself as a "lifetime citizen."
"I'm happy to say that as a lifetime citizen I'm very proud that I've actually tried to understand what it takes to make America successful" Gingrich told reporters in Tommy's Country Ham House where he held a town hall meeting.
He also said in the same Q&A with reporters:
"I'm going to stay focused on the president," Gingrich said. "The audiences I'm talking to seem to like somebody who's both positive about solutions and focused on the president."
Newt has said in the past that you can only understand Obama if you "understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior", though he has never clarified what he meant by "Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior."
Flirting with birtherism is certainly a good way to allow teabaggers to rationalize his infidelities with republican orthodoxy.
He also hilariously calls himself a small business owner, referring to his time as a highly paid Washington lobbyist for Freddie Mac. I guess if Bechtel, the fifth largest business in the US with over $30B in earnings, can be a small business then Newt, who's been in Washington since 1979, can call himself an Washington outsider.
