I just spent some time on the phone with the poor employees at the Dish Network who have to deal with such calls and have no power to do or say anything not in the script. But I have enough to ask a question and put it out to anyone else in the Sacramento, CA area (or beyond... I really have no idea how far is their reach on this issue.)
I added additional channels to my Dish account for the sole purpose of getting Current TV so I could record or watch Keith Olbermann (and had to pay extra for the privilege, of couse). In these very few months, the channel for Current at Dish has changed from 194 or 196 (can't remember exactly), to 294, and then today to 215, with no notice. For what reason? I couldn't find out. But those changes over such a very short period of time really pissed me off. I had Keith on DVR and today I got no recording because Dish changed the channel again. Has anyone else experienced this?
My feeling is that Dish is doing this on purpose to confuse Current TV viewers. MSNBC, Fox, CNN, all those channels haven't changed. (They did tell me the travel channel changed, as well, but who cares? Then they told me they were trying to make more channels for the premium channels in the 300 series, but Current has never been in the 300 series, so that story just doesn't wash.)
I don't know if I am right or wrong on this, but I do know that I am paying premium prices just so I can watch Keith Olbermann and I feel like I am getting the run-around, and possible corporate censorship, to confuse and disencourage Current viewers from being able to record and watch that channel.... all since Keith started broadcasting there.
Is this only happening in my area, Sacramento, CA, or is it also happening elsewhere? I think we need to know what our cable/satellite TV providers are doing so we can make accurate complaints, where necessary. For me, if it had been only one channel change, ok. But a second one so close to the last one makes no sense at all.
So, please tell me, are you having problems with stability with Current TV on your cable/satellite provider channels? Or is this unique to my area? Anhyone else have complaints?
