I'm republicizing this quote by Abraham Lincoln, previously noted in a diary back in 2009 in honor of the 200th anniversary of his birth, 2/12/1809. It is from Lincoln's First Message to Congress, the full text of which is here.
Then, just a couple of months ago, Rush Limbaugh brought up this quote and specific diary in an exchange with Mike Stark.
Now while standing in Z-park over the last few days with it, I realized that Saturday is the 150th anniversary of this quote, December 3, 1861.
So here it is (again):
Wow, what a difference a century and a half makes!
Now I fully endorse reading the full text, so that each person can see for themselves the context (the relevent sections are near the very end of the text). I think Mr. Lincoln has some very interesting comments on the relationship of Labor and Capital, some that our modern-day politicians should become acquainted with.
If you want to print your own, here is a link to a high-res printable PDF version.
I recommend reading it aloud tomorrow, in your home, into a mic(check) and/or in a park near you.
