Boston WHDH-TV is reporting that Occupy Boston protesters have been evicted from Dewey Square starting at about 5:00 am, EST.
As of 6:00 am, Dewey Square no longer has any occupiers present. Police are present and they are removing tents and all other material that remains.
The situation is still developing. One TV reporter is present and the WHDH-TV helicopter arrived at about 6:20 am. Live pictures are now being broadcast. Police are calmly cleaning up Dewey Park. The situation appears to be entirely peaceful.
"The process has been orderly and peaceful, resulting in about 40 arrests, far fewer than we have seen in other cities", said the TV broadcast reporter.

The reporter indicates that the city was careful not to leak the timetable. Many police arrived at about 5:00 am, the were swift, the occupiers sat down and locked their hands peacefully together.
Police Deputy Superintendent William Evans has indicated that about 40 have been arrested and charged with trespassing and resisting arrest. They were taken to various police facilities and are still being booked as of 6:30 am.
Dewey Square is barricaded while the city workers with dump trucks are busy picking up the trash and material remaining in the square.
As reported earlier, Boston's Mayor Menino of Boston considers the encampment to be a health and fire hazard. After all the delays, police finally moved in this morning.
As of 6:40 am, the police are beginning to reduce their presence around Dewey Square.

Update 7:06 am: Confirmed that 46 arrests have been made. Police spokespersons are emphasising that communications between the occupiers and the city were key to keeping things orderly and peaceful.

Mayor Menino had indicated earlier that this eviction would not be like the ones in other cities. He kept his word. Police were wearing their normal uniforms. No riot gear, no billy clubs, no pepper spray, no teargas, no tasers, no dogs, no firehoses, no force, no roughness, no property damage, no insults or disparagement of occupiers. This is from the TV reporters on the scene, not propaganda from the City of Boston.
