This Article from The Daily Mail with a dateline from yesterday and the headline "Fountains of Methan 1,000 m across erupt from Artic Ice- a Greenhouse Gas 30 times more potent than carbon dioxide".
Am I the only one feeling like there is a horrible convergence of natural events and man made disasters about to occur? Does it even really matter at this point which events are man made and which are naturally occurring if we've reached critical mass and a tipping point? Have we reached that point? If we haven't, how far are we from reaching it and what could we do to avert it? Do we have any national or international leaders willing to step up to the plate or are we all just collectively wringing our hands and waiting for extinction like an international wide screen 3D Sensurround version of On the Beach?
While I realize these questions may be depressing, I am looking for the opposite in responses. I certainly hope that there are knowledgeable people out there who can comfort me and others that things are not as bad as they seem and that ultimately we will unite globally and nationally to face and even prevent calamity.
