Is anyone out there interested in their genome?
How about anyone interested in a really really good deal?
Does this sound like a commercial?
I confess - it sort of is, but not entirely.
I am passionate about the positive possibilities of self knowledge gained through the very new science of genomics. I believe in it, and I encourage people to look into it to see if they might be interested. It is so new, many people don't know how much things have progressed over the last, say, 5 years.
Details are a hop, a skip, and a CLANG!!!! whoa I bumped into the curlycue!!!! away.
If you haven't heard about 23andMe go take a look.
At the start of the current millenium (more or less), the first human genome cost a cool Billion ($US) to bring in, and it was a race between academics and private companies.
Since then, the cost of sequencing has decreased at a rate that makes Moore's law look like a flat line. In some small number of years hence (5? 10? something like that), you WILL have your genome sequenced. It's that simple. Will the cost be $1000? $100? It hardly matters at that point, because the value of the information far outweighs the cost.
Do your prep work. Find out what the heck your genome is all about. Get a nice sampling, say, about a million positions amongst the 3 billion that are your genome.
Until December 27th, 23andMe is running a sale - normally $99+ 9$/month for a year, you get $23 off, making the total cost ... lessee ... cipher the nought, uh, sounds like about a 10% discount to me. Gee, maybe not so earth shaking.
But wait, there's more!
For every kog who signs up with the code below, I will provide a free hour of consultation, of any kind you require, to be fulfilled by phone, email, on line, in person if you are nearby, or at NN12 if you're going.
In case you're wondering, I've been entranced by proteins, genes, genomics, etc since a wee lad, and have worked in the dark basement laboratories of academe and pharma for low these many decades until recently having been sprung (cured?) by a curious sequence of events too unlikely to go into at this time.
Suffice it to say, I know my exons from my introns, my enzymes from my structural proteins, my As and Ts from my Gs and Cs. And I am at your service for one golden hour! Let me be your genomic guide.
And just one more thing ... I will donate $23 to the lifetime subscription fund (there is one, right?) for every one of you sweet sweet kosmaniacs that signs up at 23andMe using that link right down there.
So ... go at it!
$23 off at 23andMe!
And send me a message, or comment, so I know how much I owe (I owe, it's off to work we go ..).
