Just wanted to let everyone know that the Washington Redistricting Commission just release a preliminary map of legislative districts for western Washington. I have taken the liberty of combining the released maps into a single map.

As a bit of background for those not foolish enough to have followed the progress of the Redistricting Commission, the Commissioners decided to break into groups last month after failing to make progress on any of the maps. Commissioners Foster and Huff - the house democratic and republican appointees, respectively - were assigned western Washington from the King/Pierce county line, south, plus the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas. Likewise, Commissioners Ceis and Gorton - the senate democratic and republican appointees - took western Washington north of the King/Pierce line and east of the Puget sound. Neither team was to allocate the 31st legislative district straddling the county line in the foothills of Mt. Rainier.
The two teams released their compromise maps today, and with the exception of both teams allocating the part of the city of Milton in Pierce county to a district (Ceis & Gorton to the 30th, Foster & Huff to the 25th), the two plans do not conflict.
Since they did have a conflict and were not able to simply repair it, they released the two plans separately. I simply made a combined PDF map that notes the conflict and moves on. The map can be found at http://www.scribd.com/... . Now if I can just figure out how to upload my DRF approximation...
The two teams have again split into two working groups, this time with Foster and Huff working on Eastern Washington, and Ceis and Gorton working on the Congressional map. They will be meeting daily next week, and you can view the meetings on TVW http://www.tvw.org
Best of luck to you,
