As many of you know, this site will be changing it's subscription policy.
We have eliminated monthly subscriptions. If you have one on auto-renewal, it'll work for the time being. But they can no longer be purchased new. Also, after this year, we will no longer offer lifetime subscriptions. That's a big one. If you buy a lifetime subscription now, or already have one, then you're good for pretty much forever. If you don't have one, you have three weeks left to get one. Starting January, only annual subscriptions will be available. That's not a bad thing, it just means that if you want the benefits of a lifetime subscriptions (it saves you money after year two), you'll have to act soon.
Get it?
No longer offering lifetime subscriptions!
Many diaries on the subscription topic have been written.
I have been a life member for a long time so I don't even remember how this place is with ads!
But I hope that you will heed this gentle nagging and secure yourself a spot in this cyber community.
Take a walk down memory lane with me.
Take a walk down memory lane with me. I have a life time membership already because I got one soon after I found the Daily Kos. At the time, I was making huge sacrifices in my personal life as a very public person in a small Canadian city, and I thought I deserved an opportunity to vent and write in an anonymous manner. An opinionated TexMex had to now only let pearls of grace fall from my lips in the real community. That worked very well for a while, a long time actually, nobody knew Elsa = TexMex
But Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!
You just couldn't let me hide out. You grabbed me like a little girl grabs a dolly and refused to let go. I became totally in your power. My eyes went blurry looking at the orange screen, but you were all there to help me with adding and with donations! There were other disaster diaries for Doctors without Borders, there were many because Haiti happened.
Daily Kos meet ShelterBox!
And YOU and I went into a tailspin whirlwind spiral of emotion as we watched communally how the disaster unfolded and simultaniously we were able to form a hand that literally reached over and covered the poor people of Haiti.
The Daily Kos virtual world came crashing into my real world because in the real world I could not tear myself away from this fantasic community as the Daily Kos hammered Shelterbox with donations that practically crashed their site.
http://www.shelterboxusa.org/
And I know that many of you still donate to Shelterbox and other organizations. The on going amazing diaries for disaster relief within the U.S. by people like Navajo and others, could not have been written without READERSHIP. That is you.
When this happened, YOU cared
to give this.
This community is really fascinating and I think that
no I uh
NAG
that you get a lifetime subscription for yourself and/or buy a life time subscription for your favorite Kossack. (I am rooting for matching mole.)
but you can donate a smaller amount here..
http://www.dailykos.com/...(s)-:-Small-Donor-Saturday There are diaries on pandemic preparations, parenting, art, gardening, painting, home repair, kitties, gosh even some politics.
We may be usernames but we are real people and a real community. We do real things.
Updating you on ShelterBox
Flooding and disaster in the Philippines!
Huffinton Post story

More than 400 residents have been pronounced dead and hundreds are missing after flash floods and landslides caused by heavy rains swept through the area at about 2:30 a.m.
Shelterbox is on it, yesterday!
ShelterBox are speaking to contacts in the Philippines to assess the need for emergency shelter following last night's devastating storms and flash floods which have seen more than 200 lives lost according to reports.
