TO THE TROOPS RETURNING FROM IRAQ: Welcome home. I'm sorry I cannot thank you for your service, but you were not over there fighting for my freedom. A million Iraqi civilians were killed. You were used as the tools of warfare to profit the privileged few at the expense of the restless many. I respect you as human beings and I certainly do not hate you by any means, but I do not, and simply cannot, respect your actions while brainwashed, pursuing a cause based entirely on fantasy, hype, lies - pawns in a rich man's game. Please get some help so that you can deal with what you have seen, what you have been made to endure and most importantly for what you have done.
A hero can be defined as someone who sacrifices their own self interest for the good of the many. If you really want to be a real hero, sacrifice the approval of your parents, of your peers, of your proud church congregations and flag waving folks back home. Sacrifice your pride if you have to and tell the truth. Tell it to the media. Tell it to us on Facebook, on Twitter, tell it to anyone who will listen. Tell us the truth about what went on during the invasion and occupation of a sovereign nation at the hands of the American war machine.
Break your allegiance to the flag and rejoin the human race. We need you now for a real mission - one that actually counts. There is a place for you here where you are needed and valued and that is among the ranks of those who refuse to go along any longer with the so-called "American Dream" - that dream that can only exist by causing nightmares for so many innocent people all around the world.
Your skills and ability to be dedicated to a cause is needed and will be greatly appreciated here in a whole new way of "occupying". It's something we do nonviolently, it's something we do together, for the good of the many, to stand up to a real and not imagined threat to our freedom and liberty.
If my words are hard to take, that's to be expected. Don't listen to me. Listen to your gut. Listen to the voice of your own conscience. Listen to that part of your own humanity - that those who said they owned you could never take away - as you are in fact the property of no one. If America ever needed real heroes it is now, occupying nonviolently - against a very real threat on our own soil. Welcome home.
OCCUPY TOGETHER - OCCUPY WITHIN
