Welcome to The Lying Darkness (LYDARKOS), a Imperial Guild in SWTOR MMO for Daily Kos members and friends. If you have not heard of Star Wars The Old Republic by all means, check out the game and see if this new Massively Multiplayer Online Game with a strong fourth pillar emphasis on storytelling and voice acting by BioWare and EA appeals to you at http://www.swtor.com
The Lying Darkness Guild is now up and running in the game's Bergron Colony RP Server with 16ish members, and all the expected alts of players testing new roles. Our Sister Republic Guild, Victorious Secret is on a different Server, Girrada The Hutt PVE.
This group is not only for discussion of our guild in game (beginning Dec 15 for preorders and 20th for other players) but of any topics related to SWTOR. In The Lying Darkness Guild, feel free to discuss topics of democracy and left leanings freely, or leave all that behind, it's your call.
We do not object to advertising of other Daily Kos MMO game groups (indeed of any type of roleplaying or tabletop games) but we do frown on insults and criticism of the hobby itself. Without elaborating we refer you to site rules and Kos group guidelines for respecting of diaries and wish you well with your external interests.
That should not be taken as a criticism of calls to activism, which are welcome and keep us all on our toes.
Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends!
So with the game rolling, an inordinate number of rl friends of mine have been drawn into my guild. Not to put them down in any way, but I assumed such a group (RP, dedicated to fairness not pvp shit talking) would not be in their style. I frankly worried about conflicts.
So far though, the contingent of my friends has vastly outnumbered the group of players from Dkos I was hoping to come with us.
That is okay, we are just starting. I have seen DruidQueen in the game, she is amusing on guild chat. It is obvious she is used to running an efficient ship, and I look forward to joining Victorious Secret.
AS SOON AS I CAN DO SOMETHING ELSE, THAT IS.
I am pretty gripped. During the Early Access period, I logged a lot of hours, and the internet kind of faded away. I came back just last night when a real life visitor, an old war buddy, dropped in from Korea. We hung out and I marveled at how much had gone down on a supposedly dead news weekend. (Mostly) out of Iraq, Vaclav Havel passed, Kim Jong Il dead, South Korean military on high alert. Yikes.
My Sithing has gotten my Warrior to about level 24.7. Folks are telling me if I played the Space Battle portion of the game I would be even higher. I am mostly fighting to get my Crew Skills above 120 so I can comfortably sell items for 1K per 10minutes like my in game pal Gridlock. He had game credits 40K by level 21. You require 40K for training in vehicles, and a smaller amound for in game 'mounts' (all speeders, no animals).
DARKNESS
There are quite a few 'Gray' Sith in our guild. I am nearing Dark III and seeing great recesses and dark splotches on my face. I have some cybernetics obscuring my face view and a modulating mask over my mouth, but when I had it off, my blackening lips were pretty clear signs. I ponder how Light Side could have some in game effect showing their progression, but I leave that to the developers.
BUGS!
They do exist! Most of them are being handled, some are chat related, others are UI malfunctions in the game's space mode. The weirdest and yet most predictable are in the game's most complex feature, the Companions. I personally have had no problems with game save lag spikes of a few seconds when changing zones.
I hope all the bugs will be patched by this last maintenance cycle before Launch.
SOMETHING WEIRD!
You have to go back to Dromund Kass to retrain your Abilities. That is weird. It's not even duplicated on Fleet. Oh well, it's a good way to meet lower players anyway for recruiters.
MAIL
We got mail, please send me an in game mail and I'll friend you. No cross server mail just yet, but expected. And if you want to be an enemy--YOU FORGET YOURSELF!
