The President's Tweet said, "Pop quiz: What's Congress been doing instead of passing middle-class tax cuts?"
And then he really takes it to Congressional Republicans. See if you can pass the quiz.
Instead of middle-class tax cuts, this year congress has considered bills about...
A. Minting coins to celebrate the National Baseball Hall of Fame
B. Congratulating the sign industry for its contributions to small businesses
C. Establishing National Soup Month
****
A.Establishing National Banana Bread Day
B. Recognizing the anniversary of a steamboat accident
C. Allowing pizza to be considered a vegetable in school lunches
****
A. Congratulating the Green Bay Packers on winning Super Bowl XLV
B. Reaffirming the importance of breakfast
C. Establishing National Great American Pies Month
***
A. Establishing National Mail Order Gardening Month
B. Authorizing eligible vessels to compete in the America's Cup yacht race
C. Recognizing Michael Jackson as a musical icon
*******
One in each group is a real bill considered by Congress this year. I won't give you the answers. Go take the quiz yourself. Ask your friends to take the quiz. It's hilarious (although quite sad that it's true our Congress has time for this, but not the middle-class tax cut extension.)
But I love the way Obama's taking it to the Republicans this way.
This is how we do it.
I'm very new to Twitter (TeresaHillBooks, if anyone cares to follow me. But I'll warn you, it's not politics, it's about my books) but I can already see that Obama and his staff are very good at it, and it's surely the quickest, most direct way to reach younger Americans and get the involved in politics.
