Heard a union worker roll through this on the Ed show just a while ago. Seems like you need some tax cheats and payoffs to break the public service unions here in WI.
Seems like Republican State Senator Randy Hopper (first elected in 2008) has only paid personal state income taxes once in the last ten years in Wisconsin, and that was on capital gains. A tax he immediately moved to eliminate. Hopper is the owner of Mountain Dog Media, a company that owns prominent radio stations in the South Fox Valley region including KFIZ-AM 1450 and 107.1 KFIZ-FM. Now I don’t live there, but I can only imagine the AM programming. Tax Scofflaw Hopper is of course behind Walker’s plan to effectively cut 13% of income NOW, and take away all the tools to regain that down the road. He won reelection in 2010 by 163 votes. Let this be a lesson, you cannot sit out a single election.
On the pay for play front we have former Democrat Jeff Plale of Milwaukee . In last December’s lame duck, Democrats were poised to ratify the union contracts (which had been negotiated for months). Plale was the key vote and defected from the other Democrats to kill the contract. By this time Plale had already been defeated in his re-election bid. But don’t worry about Jeff, he was hired by new Governor Walker in January as Division of State Facilities administrator. A $90,000/year job.
