Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!
'Lost in Space' was a science fiction TV series airing between 1965 and 1968. I watched reruns of the series in the late 1970s.
I had a babysitter named Linda. She was very creative in entertaining me. One of the things we did was pretend that we were space travelers lost in space.
Linda would place a bar stool in front of our kitchen stove and I would sit in it. Then she would tell me to start the ship by turning on the stove's exhaust fan. Linda would narrate our adventure that always ended with her shouting "look out for that other space ship" or "we're on a direct course with an asteroid". At this point Linda would shout "more speed" and I would turn the stove fan up to high. Linda would then shake and spin the bar stool quickly which sent me flying into the floor.
It was great fun.
I have always loved science fiction in books, on television and in movies.
In 1975 the Wonder Woman TV series starring Lynda Carter debuted.
I loved it. Wonder Woman has always been a great feminist role model. Her mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to the world. She has superhuman strength and super-speed.
This Wonder Woman series ran until 1979.
A new Wonder Woman pilot has been ordered by NBC and it has been revealed that Adrianne Palicki of "Friday Night Lights" fame will play Wonder Woman.
The pilot is being produced by David E. Kelley creator of such television shows as The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal and Harry's Law.
Wonder Woman will be modernized:
This Wonder Woman -- unlike Lynda Carter's still-geek-adored turn in the '70s TV series -- will also reportedly be a modern executive by day -- all part of Kelley's "reinvention" of the character. (Because if there's one word Hollywood's superhero-loving writers adore more than "reboot," it's "reinvention.")
I am looking forward to it. Over the years I have enjoyed The X-Files, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe.
Unfortunately Stargate Universe has been cancelled after the 10 episode season this Spring.
