We are all following the events in Egypt. We are all praying and waiting for Mubarak to leave and let the people of Egypt move into the present. I hope for that too.
But we can do more than walk and chew gum at the same time. The ShelterBox representatives rejoiced last night, but today it is back to the grunt work of getting the word out on ShelterBox. They were fanning out today to practice their chops on our Federal officials. I wish them the best with their awareness and friendship building.

I had breakfast with the very generous Executive Director and later will be inteviewed about blogging for ShelterBox. Thanks to you, I am thinking about being a representative for ShelterBox, so I will have to join a new Rotary club in San Antonio. This will get me out of my jammies and back out in civil society since moving back to Texas. In spite of what many people think about Texas, this is an opportunity for me to be active in something worthwhile where I can make a difference. Like I said last night this would not have happen if it were not for all of you who blogged along with me about the tragedy in Haiti.
As some of you may know I am presently in D.C. (at my own expense) hanging out like a Daily Kos spy at the ShelterBox conference.
Last night was a fun night, attending the event to honor Donna Karan as Humanitarian of the Year for ShelterBox.

I will post more info as I get it. I like good clothes and shopping at a business with ethics and world vision is the way of the future.
It was lovely smooshing with various folks dedicated to the ShelterBox mission. Every time I introduced myself as the Daily Kos blogger they were like, "Oh yeah, TexMex at the Daily Kos!" So yeah, you guys made a difference. I met Tom Henderson and chatted with him. He is a really lovely fellow, down to earth and caring guy. I felt priviliged.
I have also been trying to get to know the Democratic Party of San Antonio and perhaps can piece together a life beyond the Great Orange!
Or well, maybe not.
I don't post many diaries or pie fight much, well maybe if someone says something bad about Texas. But I have hope the the good will prevail in spite of how dire things look in Texas. Things look very dim to this science educator with the budget the governor has brought in. It will be brutal to the public schools of Texas with cut backs and lay offs in a state that is already not doing very well in education.
Just updating all you generous ShelterBox supporters on the evoution of TexMex and my "representing" all of you.
As Tom Henderson told me, "Keep blogging about us!"
So I respectfully submit this small effort to keep all you you updated.
Thanks for the silver medal, I find it crazy special. LOL
Love Elsa
Burnt Orange Report rocks!
