I preface this by saying that I am not a person in the know and I damn sure cant claim to be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I think I do know this one thing. OBAMA HEARD THE LEFT!!
3 reasons why I say this:
1. Think about it for a minute, all of a sudden since this past Sunday shows, the left mouth pieces have been on tv spouting off about how angry the left is, they're gonna walk, he's losing the left and Obama has to do something. All of sudden, the fierce urgency of now became, right now, as the news became heated about the lack of backbone the president appeared to have regarding these cuts. The WH appeared not to be listening, but they were. Because all kinds of spokespeople appeared out of nowhere all over tv and started talking, even that dreadful republican Simpson could smell a revolt. He came on and started to bash his own party like he just saw an episode of Punked and he and his craven bretheren werent the ones with the head phones on. Love it when republican trolls speak the truth about their own party. On a side note, and a VERY side note, that human FAIL, Juan Williams has actually removed his weasel suit and started to present some truth in the lions den without checking his wallet for Fox News cash. The lights came on in the WH and more than tea baggers were in the corner. Democrats and Trolls were barking.
2. We now, right at this very moment, see the progressive caucus showing up and actually wanting to engage in conversation about the state of our union. Maybe I'm just too new on this board, but a blog conversation with progressive senators, more than one, happening TODAY at 12!!! That is big and I plan to be there. If they have any attentive interns who read DK, they had to have seen the heated post and diaries calling their bosses and Obama, troll food. "The progressives are pissed and they're ready to walk!!!!" "Obama is giving us a bad name!!" You guys had better head over there and DO something, otherwise we all lose. I bet you bottom dollar, they were listening and the president got a verbal shot in the mouth. Maybe he wasnt interested in towing the democratic line with lunatics loose in the House, maybe he tried to ignore the heat on his ring finger or maybe the progressive caucus walked into his office and tried to make him sign his own resignation letter, who knows. He is listening now.
3. That speech yesterday. That is the most animated I have seen this president in a long time. For several months there, many thought he belonged on the knee of Edgar Bergen doing a ventriloquist act. Really. Yesterday, he walked out to the podium and broke his brass knuckles across the head of Ryan and his shitty budget. Is that what we call the bully pulpit? When have we seen that? I reckon not since Hillary tried her Annie Oakley impression. Obama must have been salty the last couple days trying to figure out why every time he walked out in front of the camera, america thought he had on pansies (eerrr, panties.)
But the office weighs heavy on his shoulders and he hears it from all sides. I'm convinced that he has heard us, because some at DK roared. ROARED, guys!! Yes, I am a supporter of the President and will continue to be because I have always said that I believe his intent has always been the good of all americans, not just the left. He cant catch a break, but I think this week was one of the big ones for the WH. Heard many on here say that he has lost his democratic principles and what he stands for. I think he did showed the opposite of this theory in spades in that speech. He called the republicans out to the american people, he outlined a democratic vision of what we all believe and for the apologists, he validated their support. He is and continues to be a democrat who believes in democratic principles regardless of what people say here and on the other side.
I think he heard us, and that is a program that just might have worked.
OH, and side note....seems like that cave that was supposed to happen with Obama...actually happened on the other side...and they're CRUSHED. Could not have happened to a better crowd. Besides, I'm tired republicans selling wolf tickets. I think it is time the democrats start selling some of their own.
