I'm too stunned to do a proper diary. Consider this a primal scream in hopes that some nice commenter will supply some information to this story that will make it less ominous than it appears.
Data released by the government indicates radioactive material was leaking into the atmosphere from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant in early April in greater quantities than previously estimated.
Radioactive material was being released into the atmosphere from the plant at an estimated rate of 154 terabecquerels per day as of April 5, according to data released by the Cabinet Office's Nuclear Safety Commission on Saturday.
The NSC previously estimated radiation leakage on April 5 at "less than 1 terabecquerel per hour."

I am not a nuclear engineer, or do I have any expertise in nuclear medicine, but I am somewhat logical, so let's see. A terabecquerel is one trillion, that’s trillion becquerels. So a quick calculation, let’s see that’s 24 trillion becquerels per day they counted so they were missing 130 trillion becquerels per day, and that was just from unit 1.
Wow.
