With analysis, the Winthrop Poll of South Carolina voters has revealed some very interesting statistics. As mentioned in today's Midday Open Thread 78% of Republicans think Pres. Obama is a Socialist, though bailing out banks doesn't sound much like a socialist.
But other statistics were even more interesting, for a Red state.
All voters
When asked if they approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job
43.4% Approve
47.4% Disapprove
Within the margin of error
When asked if they approve or disapprove of the way the United States Congress is handling its job
15.4% Approve
73.1% Disapprove
They approve of the Pres. more than they approve of Congress
When asked if they thought our country is on the right track or headed in the wrong direction
24.3% Right track
62.5% Wrong Direction
And Republicans are running the House!
And the best for last asked just of Republicans:
When asked if it was more important to select a nominee who can beat Barack Obama or more important to select a nominee who matches their beliefs.
32.4% Beat Obama
56% Match Beliefs
An interesting bag of stats. Seems with just a little effort, this state could go Blue!
