I've noticed over the past few weeks as the number of Diaries related to these subjects have increased so have comments and responses that look like they came off an advocacy website: non-sequitur and half-truth arrangements; that the advocacy groups for these industries traffic in; making these overarching statements; about taxes paid while failing to mention they aren't paid in the us, or using made up played down stats; diatribes about the free market which don't even match free market principles; but are simply what is in the best interest of the industry. In fact I'm now seeing direct quotes being used off the American petroleum institute’s website and other trade orgs and the authors are being so bold as to even give credit for the facts used in the posts. These industries seem to have become so desperate to crush dissent they have decided to send their trolls and paid conversation disruptor on to daily kos for fear that one of our ideas but gain traction. You generally tell these people are paid by the industries because they have just suddenly opened up their accounts or have accounts with little or no longer term activity. I assume as the debate about the rule the oil and commodities industries play in the current oil prices continue this will increase. I just thought everyone should be aware of this
