"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed." Dwight D. Eisenhower
Directly on the heels of the successful propaganda campaign to obfuscate the American and NATO country publics concerning the invasion of Libya, another campaign appears to be heating up over the long awaited withdrawal from Iraq. Go to guy Senator Lindsey Graham is out and about spreading more lies over eight years after the fact.
“If we’re not smart enough to work with the Iraqis, to have 10-15,000 American troops in Iraq in 2012, Iraq could go to hell,” Graham insisted. The US has been occupying Iraq since March 2003."

Of course, we're supposed to be out of there at the end of this year according to the U.S./Iraq Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) that dictates all U.S. forces will be completely of Iraq by 12/11/2001. Many of us have warned that it won't happen and excuses will be put forth to extend the stay. We'll certainly hear more from the imperial messengers in the coming months regarding why we should stay in Iraq. Considering how easy it was to pull off the Libya invasion, at least so far since no Congress or Parliament has the guts to challenge it, the public is in no position to argue.
We're going to get a full dose of bullshit excuses in the next 18 months on why we should stay in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. Considering what's going on it wouldn't be surprising to be hearing how we should stay in Lebanon, Syria, and Sudan as well, even if they don't officially mention Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia. At the same time we'll be hearing how Social Security needs to be cut, Medicare needs to be cut, all social service programs need to be cut, wages need to be reduced and pensions need to cease. More and more sacrifices from the common citizens will be needed to feed the war machine and the imperialists who want to control the world.
Eisenhower had his establishment issues to be sure. But he did warn us about the Military Industrial Complex, fifty frigging years ago. He also knew what effect that Complex and the world supremacy ideology has on citizens. We had a good example of that recently when over 160 Tomahawk missiles were presented to the Libyan citizens at over a million a pop. Yes, Uncle Dwight, those hundreds of millions would surely feed and cloth those that are hungry and cold.
The current project to balkanize Libya may or may not work out for the imperialists. But it should be a clear sign to all that we not only haven't seen the end of war, we may be just beginning.
