This is, admittedly, not much of a diary, but I find the question compelling, worthy of consideration, and more than a bit disconcerting.
As I write this a mere 5 minutes before the polls close here in Wisconsin, this question has been haunting me all day: Why have there been no opinion polls citing anticipated results of the Prosser-Kloppenburg race for WI Supreme Court? Surely the state and national political parties have been polling in order to direct campaign efforts; surely the traditional media have been polling the race in order to direct their coverage; I will assert that no less than our host, DailyKos.com, with their vast polling powers via partners have dipped a toe or two into those waters.
And yet... Nada. Nothing. Chirp, chirp, chirp go the crickets, but from those who surely must have an inkling? Same sounds.
I voted today, and the vote against Prosser was one of the most satisfying of my voting lifetime, but I am unnerved by the media silence, in general, regarding the horse-race politics that typically attends such contested elections.
Holy Crap, now Rachel Maddow opens with a story about the Post Office budget as a frame to the possible gov't shutdown... Sigh, off to local public radio coverage.
If anyone can provide a clue to the absolute absence of polling on this race, I'd appreciate a reply.
