Introducing The Uterati, a group dedicated to nurturing vast, shadowy feminist conspiracies against the right. More under the fold.
The instant I saw the name ~ The Uterati ~ I knew it was a blog name - or at least a dKos group - begging to be born. I saw it in a comment by Andrew C. White in the diary My Uterus Inc by veteran Kossack LaFeminista.
There is already a Facebook group by this name. It was apparently inspired by the website Incorporate My Uterus, which became a nationwide meme after Rachel Maddow discussed it on her show. Florida state Rep. Scott Randolph started the meme unintentionally when he said in the Florida House:
The point is that Republicans are always talking about deregulation and big government. But I say their philosophy is small government for the big guy and big government for the little guy. And so, if my wife's uterus was incorporated or my friend's bedroom was incorporated, maybe the Republicans would be talking about deregulating.
The Republican leaders of the Florida House promptly gave Rep. Randolph a formal reprimand for using the word "uterus" - and then
banned the word on the House floor!
Women all over the country have been writing posts and blogs using the Forbidden Word, and exploring the many business and tax opportunities incorporating uteri might provide. Many theories abound, and The Uterati welcomes diaries on this topic, but is not restricted to them. The larger purpose is to concentrate in one place all diaries attempting to fan the flames of uppity-womanness in the current wave of global uprisings.
And for the teabagger state governments, we have a special message:
