Latest in the ongoing brouhaha over the son of a Wisconsin developer who was given a big ticket job with Governor Walker's adminstration.
Brian Deschane, the son of development lobbyist Jerry Deschane has tendered his resignation rather than accept a demotion from his old $81,500 per year position as Administrator of Environment & Regulatory Matters. There was no reason given for the resignation. His post is currently being filled by Secratary Dave Ross.
As we all know around here, Deschane was appointed to the position in February in a move that smacked of cronyism due to the fact that the young man lacked any sort of management experience, had no college degree and bore the distinction of having 2 DUIs on his record.
Daddy Deschane swears up and down that his financial support of Governor Walker (to the tune of $121,000) didn't have any bearing on the hire and despite Mr. Deschane's claims that his son Brian is in a division that would yield no influence, it's hard not to imagine that construction jobs don't have to be presented to a government body that deals with environmental and regulatory affairs.
Wisconsin needs to pat itself on the back for sending this defective purchase back. What concerns me is that within a couple of short months, without much deep investigation, 2 high profile cronyism incidents (Randy Hopper's mistress Valerie Cass being the other) have been uncovered.
How many more such appointments is the Walker administration harboring? That's the question on my mind now.
