Too bad, but this was likley to be the outcome for a while. A missed opportunity for the Maryland, but key that we push hard next year:
Proponents of a Maryland offshore wind project, including Gov. Martin O’Malley, pledged to renew debate in Annapolis in 2012 a day after legislative leaders said they would not act on the issue this year.
A coalition including Maryland steelworkers, women voters and environmentalists recognized in a statement that it is often difficult to pass such major bills the first year they are proposed. A spokesman for O’Malley agreed.
“It’s not an entirely unexpected result,” said Shaun Adamec, the governor’s press secretary. “It’s fairly common in Annapolis for proposals this large and complex to take more than one year.”
