Okay, last time I'm gonna bug you.
Today is the National Association of Letter Carriers annual Food Drive. It's easy. You simply put some non-perishable food items in a bag or box and leave it by your mailbox. Your friendly postal pal will pick it up for delivery to your local food bank.
(Good tip from belinda ridgewood: Label the bag "Food Drive Donation." The letter carriers are probably very cautious about taking stuff off of porches.)
This is just about the easiest way you can help feed your neighbors in need and tidy up your pantry as well. It's win-win.
Food security is a real problem in America. Did you know that one in seven of your countrymen receives food aid in the form of food stamps? Or that one in six children in America don't know where the next meal is coming from?
For a country that produces (and wastes) as much chow as we do, those statistics are unacceptable. Those of us with a little cushion can help, today, without breaking a sweat.
Just get the cans, boxes, bags, etc. in the bag and get 'em on the porch. The fine men and women of the USPS will do the heavy lifting.
You know you want to.
