Thanks to the time & energy & talent of long - time F.O.O., Kevin Holsinger, we have a temporary logo to get us through to that magic 6/20/11 date. He did this work entirely of his own accord, and I think it looks darn good!
We are at T - 28 days, boys & girls, and ladies & gents! :D AND, speaking of permanent diary logos, I again beg y'all with the artistic/PhotoShop/etc. talents & abilities to submit your ideas for a diary logo for Keith's CurrentTV version of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. ;D
I'm thinking we should resume the "Friends of Olbermann since 2008" (F.O.O.) memo & the name of the show (since he's taking the name with him) since I'm sort of looking upon the absence of Countdown... & the aforementioned diary as a hiatus, of sorts. Otherwise, the layout, color scheme, etc. is entirely up to you; if you feel the need to trash Keith's previous employer, knock yourself out. ;D Send logo ideas in JPEG format to me via email with a subject line mentioning the logo, the show, etc. As show time gets closer, I'll reveal the submitted logos for your vote, and the "winner" will be revealed the night of the first show on June 20. Okee - dokee? :D
While a whole lot of people on Daily Kos know Keith Olbermann mainly from Countdown, Keith's career began in the sports world. His high school, Hackley School, apparently, had their own "sports department" because he began play - by - play work there before he'd even graduated from high school. Once he was at Cornell University, he was the sports director for the student - run station on campus, WVBR. After graduating from Cornell (barely - didn't have ME for an academic advisor fer damn sure! ;D), he worked for UPI, the RKO Radio Network, and a very "young" CNN in 1981. His career path took him through Boston & L.A. before ending up at ESPN with a new "partner in crime," Dan Patrick. It was their work on Sports Center that propelled both of them to national success.
The 2 of them even co - authored a book, The Big Show, which talks a bit about their lives & how the heck they ended up at ESPN & "scenic" Bristol, CT to begin with. ;D Their show ran from 1992 - 1997, and poor Dan Patrick was never quite the same again. ;D I'd bring up Keith's tenure at "you know where" sports when his boss was "you know who," but why cause unneeded nightmares?
So, let's open the floor for Keith sports memories or whatever the heck y'all feel like talking about concerning Mr. Keith; don't forget...28 more days until his return!
