I am truly perplexed! Readers, please help me understand. There has to be some sort of explanation.
I'd like to think that the average Daily Kos member is smart, progressive, and open-minded, and capable of engaging in intelligent debate, so I'm going to attempt to elicit some sort of answer to this very straightforward question: In the face of what is clearly an imposition of a neo fascist state, what explains the passivity, impotence, confusion, and apathy that prevents the population from acting against it?
I'm going to keep this short. I'm not going to include tons of research about ALEC, and the Heritage Foundation, and the corruptive forces of corporate America on our government, or the curtailment of women's and workers' rights, the dismantling of the social safety net, the dismantling of the regulatory infrastructure, the corruptive and manipulative effects of the corporate-owned mainstream media.
There are many diarists who do great work on researching and writing about these issues.
Let me get to the main issue: Today (June 15, 2011) the entire U.S. Government is under the control of a neo fascist corporatist oligarchy. It took about 40 years or so to put all the pieces together, and we are now witnessing a rapid-fire succession of events that signify the rapid consolidation and imposition of this new reality in the United States.
The 2008 financial crisis was caused by the largest looting in history, facilitated by the dismantling of the regulatory infrastructure, and the deployment of very sophisticated Ponzy schemes devised by Wall Street.
The U.S. mainstream media is first and foremost a powerful and effective neo fascist corporatist propaganda machine whose main purpose is to manipulate and control the populace so they can be exploited by the plutocratic ruling class.
Now, that's easy enough. Here is where we are today. One could say that the situation could be called "Orwellian."
I'm not a defeatist regarding this situation, nor do I believe that there's nothing that could be done about it. To the contrary, these times in history are precisely the times that call for major resistance movements!
But all I hear are crickets (if one understands what really needs to happen to address the situation).
Where are the leaders that make the government nervous?
What is happening? Please give me your take on this so I can make sense of it.
