Prior to the convention, someone asked me what the prize was for winning the Chairman's Pub Quiz. My response was bragging rights. Little did I know, nor never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate that our team would win. Our team, made up of "the little people at DailyKos" (plus one journalist, one state representative) beat out the DailyKos front pagers at DailyKos. The front pagers team is named Sea Org. They have been the champions for the past two years. They were a force to be reckoned with but our team, MinnesONOZ, rose to the challenge and wiped the floor with them.
(Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but remember, we won the bragging rights!)
This win is comparable to getting a hole in one....when you are playing Tiger Woods!
MinnesONOZ is the name created by cskendrick.
Members of the team:

Mr. Sharoney

Rep. Brad Miller (NC-12)sat in for first two rounds
David Weigel (Slate & MSNBC)
Anne Schupach (filled in for Rep. Miller when he left)
Jessie Opoien (writer)
Honorary member: Trashablanca (he didn't show up and takes credit for the win because he didn't show up)
My favorite tweet
Jessie Opoien @JG_DKos @daveweigel @adambonin They never saw MinnesONOZ coming… and I still don't know what to do with my @AlFranken soap. #burma
Pub quiz is indescribable! AdamB uses his twisted mind to come up with super difficult questions, participants respond with chants, groans and enthusiasm. Perhaps my favorite moment was when a team contested an answer, stormed the Chairman's podium, demanded a recheck and as they returned to their seats chants of SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! bellowed. Other chants throughout the contest were Burma! Burma! (you had to be there), Recount! Recount!, and for AdamB, the chant was Four More Years! Four More Years!
As winners, we did receive the niftiest prize ever....an autographed copy of Senator Franken's book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them I will be framing mine.
Also received a t-shirt that we could design, this is mine
Our winning team (occams hatchet missing in action)
cskendrick at the podium reading our limerick which didn't win points...too many people chose to write about Kirby Puckett...so, what rhymes with Puckett? Ya, you get the picture
Democrats for Lieberman had the best props!

Our team pondering a question
Dave Weigel (who I now think of as "walking Wiki Weigel"and Pam Miles of the Alabama Dem. Party
Glad we got you on our team, kid!
You could feel the tension as we waited for AdamB to give the final results...we knew we had done well but weren't sure if we were in first or second place
puzzled, Rep. Brad Miller, and cskendrick
Another shot of our team
Sharoney and Mr. Sharoney checking out the winners' bucket!
And finally, me wearing "the shirt". No one ever told me that I could have so darn much fun at age 69!
AdamB created the fairness rule: All cell phones, iPads etc. were to be placed in the center of the table! No google! Yikes.
Should you decide to create a team for next year I recommend:
1. Have a variety of ages respresented
2. Have people from all parts of the country
3. Have someone who has lived or lives in the host city (this ones important!)
#3 reminds me....we are recruiting a Providence native or someone who has lived there to balance out next year's team! Please apply if you know Rhode Island like the back of your hand.
We had 2 attorneys, 1 journalist, 2 who had lived in Minnesota, 2 from the south, 2 from the west, 2 from Mass.
I will be rubbing it in that "we beat the front pagers" throughout the year. Please join me
whenever the occassion should arise.
I fully expect that Markos will man up and acknowledge our win! There are rumors out that he's not pleased with his group. Heh! Love it!
