I'm not being cute here. I am not pulling some sort of Frank Luntz wordplay. I am posing a question that needs to be addressed, as it gets to the heart of the republican nonsense we are experiencing. How does one define a tax? One common definition is "support for a government placed upon its persons, groups, and businesses within its domain." So, what is government? According to Merriam-Webster, it is "authoritative direction or control." So, let's put this all together. Taxes are support mechanisms for agencies that have authoritative direction or control.
OK, so follow me here. What more control over our lives is there than the group of "Health" profit corporations? The death panels, touted by Betsy McCaughey and then regurgitated by continual line of vile liars like Senator Chuck Grassley, actually do exist, but it's not part of the Health Care Act. Health profit agencies like Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana, and UnitedHealth are already doing this. They deny health care and procedures based upon their profit margins. The results are increased severity in loss of health and death. We pay money to these organizations. We have to in order to have a shot at good health. We really have no choice, if we ignore the whole no-health-care option. Therefore, what we pay to these deciders of our life decisions is a tax--a health-care tax.
Since the corporations and their anti-American ghouls want unfettered access to our choices and money, they have paid off all of our republican politicians and a healthy (sorry for the pun) portion of the Democratic politicians. We are not being represented anymore. We are being ruled by an unelected group of greedy anti-democracy anti-Americans. We are being taxed by these unelected people.
I sincerely hope that we wake up to ths fact and get our tea-party brethren with their republican blinders to understand this. Taxation without representation was a mantra that we were taught was the foundation of the revolution of the 1770's. It's happening now.
