Japanese Utilities Select Nuclear Power As Energy Of Future - Questions About The Integrity Of Japanese Officials - Safety is important but the advancement of nuclear power must not be slowed

Similar to shareholder meetings in Japan, the IAEA also saw the largest attendance numbers in history this week in Vienna,
Chinese representative Wang Yiren made an official statement that was eerily similar to the position taken by Japanese Utilities in shareholder meetings,
"Safety is important, but the advancement of nuclear power must not be slowed."
As the longest shareholder meetings in Japanese Power Utility records come to a close, more questions have been raised then answered, and the nuclear power industry would like to keep it that way. A day after the turbulent and unusually outraged atmosphere at the TEPCO Shareholders Meeting, five other power utilities were forced to sit and defend their unyielding stands on nuclear power.
The decision by TEPCO and other power utilities to stand by nuclear power stands in direct contrast to Prime Minister Kan's statements in late May that, "Japan will now review its basic energy plan from scratch and is set to address new challenges." While speaking at a forum in Paris, France. the Prime Minister also was quoted, "We will mobilize all our resources to break the barrier to practical use due to such aspects as technology and costs, and we will elevate renewable energy to one of society's core energy sources."
In Japan and around the world, a nuclear war is taking place without any nuclear bombs. The nuclear industry and those who profit from nuclear power fear growing sentiment in Japan will spread to international populations.
The citizens of Japan must work together to force the government and utilities to perform in an open arena, that is available to the public and promotes the production of alternative energy. Openness is a disinfectant, it keeps the malignant unethical behaviors and methods from starting.
To this point, the Japanese people have been induced to take up the same goals as the government officials and utility executives. In the book of war Zhang Yu stated, 'Joyful in difficulty, the people will forget about their death.' This I-Ching rang in my mind like a bell when Dr. Shunichi Yamashita, an advisor for the Atomic Bomb Research Institute was quoted as saying, "The effects of radiation do not come to people that are happy and laughing. They come to people that are weak-spirited, that brood and fret."
What Can The Japanese Citizens Do To Make Their Opinions Heard
Ultimately the Japanese citizens will be forced to take drastic actions to sway key shareholders of the utilities to put pressure to move away from nuclear power.
Promoters of nuclear power in Japan are banking on the cognitive biases in Japanese culture to prevent people from forming a functional effort to stand up and make a collective statement that cannot be ignored.
One of the most effective ways to influence the many conglomerates that make up the largest shareholders is to be aware of what products in Japan are willing to continue funding a nuclear future in Japan.
