Let's keep it nice. I know plenty of you are not going to like this:-)
I liked (past tense) Representative Anthony Weiner. His interactions with women are irrelevant to me. HOWEVER he got caught red handed and he allowed many in the Liberal/Progressive Community to go out and defend him as if he was a victim of some elaborate Right Wing Conspiracy to paint him as a sexual deviant. I have no respect for people who do that, who knowingly lie and throw their supporters underneath the bus. I wanted to defend Rep. Weiner, Breitbart is a scumbag jackbooted thug, however something just stunk about this beyond the typical Breitbart stench. Weiner's lies have given the perception of validation to Breitbart and the rest of his gang of thieves.
We have to call a spade a spade. Anthony Weiner is a liar who let his supporters perpetuate that lie in an attempt to defend him.
To sum it up. Anthony Weiner is stupid and I don't want stupid people in The United States Congress.
3:55 PM PT: Wow. Quite an interesting collection of responses. Keep it coming folks:-)
I wanted to clarify a few things.
A. The stupidity charge comes from the point that he should have known that as an already public figure he would be a target. Public figures such as him should be aware to be cautious with twitter, facebook, whatever!
B. He is NOT responsible for the media's feeding frenzy. However he set the chain of events in motion by committing the stupid act in the first place. He then allowed it to fester all last week, blowing it up. Essentially throwing chum in the water. If he came out immediately and accepted responsibility I would have no problem with the guy at all.
I am not casting any moral aspersions against him, I just think his value as an advocate for our agenda is zilch now.
Tue Jun 07, 2011 at 2:37 PM PT: I will say that having read many responses, many so called "Progressives" live in cuckoo land as much as our Right Wing "friends."
Not everything is a Right Wing conspiracy.
