The Vigil diary is like a chapel and not a place to argue or debate. It is not the place for that. Respectful discussion is welcome. If you have a disagreement with something in a Vigil and feel the need to argue, feel free to take it outside and write a diary about it – but please don’t disrupt the contemplation of others in the Vigil itself.
For the last few months I have been frantically busy with packing, moving, unpacking, and trying to make a new home for myself. I go to bed sore and exhausted. I have been making a new home because the home I had for seven years needs to be sold. I lived with my Mom for that time and was her caretaker at her request. When we lost Mom last year my brother and I decided to give ourselves some time to mourn before we started the process of selling the house. The time has now come for us to do that and I made the decision to leave Indiana and come down to North Carolina to be near my niece and her husband and their three teenagers. It has been hectic but the move will be good for me. I’ll be able to sell my art work and will be a part of the thriving art community here in Winston Salem. I’ll also have the chance to become active politically down here.
In the hustle and bustle of trying to unpack and set up a new home I have tried to take some time each evening for calmness. I will relax and read while sipping a glass of wine. Often times I will shower first using my favorite scent from Calgon called Moon Petal Musk. It is a gentle scent and calming. So tonight let us think about the calmness that we sometimes lack in this hectic world. In that calmness we can renew our spirit. There are many things that can help us achieve calmness. I have some music that is generally called New Age but it is gentle and serene. Many of the CDs have the sounds of oceans or water in them. Nature understands serenity. Often times I will just lie down and relax with the cats and listen to music and oceans and let myself just drift with the peace it engenders. Tonight find an oasis of calmness for yourself. The hectic world can be put on hold for an hour while you relax and enjoy serenity.
