Enough has been written by people way smarter than I am about the Obama-Boehner-McConnell-Reid deal. But progressives who are understandably disappointed that the deal is all cuts and no tax increases have been consoling themselves that this will help insure the Bush tax cuts on the wealthy will expire in January 2013.
Says who?
You can't tell me that the Republicans won't come up with some other manufactured crisis and hold some essential piece of legislation hostage unless Congress agrees to a further extension, or maybe even to make them permanent. It's not yet clear on what it will be, but they'll find something. And Obama and Congressional Democrats will likely fold again.
