Busy running to get from work to the grocery store to fix dinner to get the almost man teen from band camp and home again! I sometimes wonder if I'll ever have time for me. It is good to finally sit and have a glass of wine with my whining-It's too hot, I'm tired, My mother-in-law might be released before she is ready, The kids at school were wild today, My daughter is being too sarcastic for words, My son doesn't communicate any more, My husband......Well, he's a Republican! And to top it off, (as if him being a conservative Republican isn't enough) I come over to check out the Orange website that gives me strength to keep on being the loving Liberal that I am and find a whole bunch of whining instead!
Let's see...There are the Obama versus no Obama factions. There are the people of Belief versus people of Unbelief. Then the "You are a troll-no! You are a troll!" grade-school playground banter.
I get annoyed and think, "Come on people! Aren't we here to work toward electing Democrats?? Aren't we supposed to be working for the same goals of health care, education, LGBT rights, peace, overcoming the idiot state elections, unions, Veteran's benefits, Civil rights, Unemployment benefits--and on and on.....!!!!" I feel like whining some more!
Until-there it is! The message that makes sense: Live long, fight hard and prosper! It is bittersweet, though. Meteor Blades is taking a leave of absence, doubtful if he will return-he says. His words resonate with the way I have felt for a while-the voice of reason:
"In fact, much more would be accomplished if just half the energy that goes into this internal battling went into the real activism that we see recounted or proposed in diaries every day. Some of the viciousness would probably be undermined if the "Preview" comment button were replaced by one saying "THINK!" "
He will be missed. I miss him already. Can we all-PLEASE!-take his words to heart? I'm done whining, and now I need to get moving and doing.
How about the rest of you? Do we pitch in and work together? Come in and join us. This is an open thread.
