I have long admired the work of Rachel Maddow since her days on Air America Radio, but her extensive piece from Thursday's show on my state's shame of a governor, Rick Perry, was particularly notable.
As she has done on numerous stories since she started her current show on MSNBC, Rachel did more than just the surfacy, no substance stuff that now passes as "journalism." Instead, she presented a well-documented piece and interview that raised serious questions about Perry's involvement in a Christians only prayer event and the philosophy of those who were its main figures.

It's sad that this kind of spot-on reporting is seen in so few places. And seeing this story makes me wonder why so many in the media are so reluctant to ask the hard questions that pieces like this raise.
I am proud of Rachel Maddow and her willingness to take on hard issues that need to be raised, especially when it comes to someone who seeks the highest office in the land. The rest of the media may want to look the other way while Perry tries to sell himself as a harmless moderate, but facts are facts.
The issues Rachel raised in her show last night won't go away. And I pray the media takes notice and raises these questions every time they do a story about Perry and his presidential aspirations.
