Just throwing a thought out here...I am seriously flashbacking to 2000 with the advent of "all Perry all the time" on the news the past few days. I can't stand to listen to the guy. Same exact reaction I had to Dubya.
Only in 2000, I sincerely thought there was no way in HELL the American people would vote for somebody who was clearly an idiot.
We know how that turned out.
Personally, I have to turn the sound down when they are rolling tape of Perry. I can't stand the sound of his voice. But at least today, there are resources (thank you DailyKos!) where I can at least read the accurate, unvarnished account of not only what was said, but what he has said previously. I think this is a huge difference from 11 years ago.
Today there is Keith, Rachel, Ed, and Lawrence (and others) who are wasting no time getting the facts out there.
I know there are issues with MSNBC, and what they do or do not choose to cover. Or sometimes KO's "over the top-ness".
But I'm damn grateful these voices are widespread today. Even the roaring loudmouth Fox/Limbaugh/RW blogosphere cannot silence these sincere liberal/progressive voices. Or the facts that they reveal 5 nights a week.
Eleven years ago this didn't exist. Maybe it wouldn't have changed anything. But I know I would have felt better. And I wouldn't have stopped paying attention because I couldn't deal with the incredible stupidity and the lying and the outright criminal activities taking place. (There were other heavy life issues for me at that time that don't exist today, which was a reason I had to pull away from news. Not an excuse but a reason). I hate that I did it.
I won't be pulling away this go-round. I'm ready to pay attention this time.
Also, I am grateful for Stewart and Colbert. They bring the truth along with the funny. And
nobody can silence them.
A light in the darkness. Knowledge and truth.
Tonight I will choose to be grateful, and tomorrow I'll choose to remember why it's important to remain vigilant.
Thanks for reading. Peace to all.
