As predicted (http://www.dailykos.com/...) the Israeli oligarchy responded to the demands for economic freedom by ordering their criminal gangs to attack Israel in the guise of terrorists. This is a defining moment in the Middle East. The Palestinians and all their supporters must not retaliate, they must stand fast beside their Israeli brothers and sisters to force the oligarchs from power. The road to peace is a hard one, it will be bloody and confused as the oligarchs will use every means to stay in power and the threat of terror is their most effective weapon.
If the Israeli people are too conditioned to their own slavery they will strike out against Palestinians. Proof of their inability to raise up and clean out the corrupt families that run the country will be expressions of submission by supporting the pathetic response of the Netanyahu government in Gaza. Ehud Barak's militarist rantings are so stereotyped they should be transparent to all. The demonstrations must continue in the face of violence, threats and promises. Only the installation of a truly representative democratic body with the powers to investigate the oligarchs and divest their holdings will bring about opportunities for the majority of Israelis and a free market. Re-nationalization of the banking industry should be the first step by confiscation.
It is hardly worth while to argue whether the bodies of the "terrorists" killed in the past 24 hours are "real" terrorists or people simply killed by criminal gangs ordered by the oligarchs. What is worth doing is to create an Israel where the elections are free, the press is diverse and the economy is open. The current conditions reflect an Israel more like the dictatorships around her that the image of a western democracy, but then fear and war have molded today's Israel more than intelligence and peace.
