In the words of Billie from the excellent film "The Year of Living Dangerously", "What Then Must We Do?" The Tea Party needs an answer from us progressives. A STRONG push-back. Several quotes come to mind, "If you can't change things, at least you can shame the guilty", and better..Ghandi's quote "Be the change you want to see in the world".
I believe we are in uncharted territory in this country. I believe the "haves" have no shame to be guilted from. So it is time that we answer the call. It is time that those of us who have had enough, change the narrative. It is time to "be the change that you want to see in the world". That means getting off our collective blogging, SOMA butts and DOING something! I have an idea. I welcome your input. More beneath the fold.
I am not interested @ the moment of running a primary challenger against President Obama. So, let us leave all pie fights about that aside. I'm operating under the premise that we - serious progressives - need to scream LOUD against the corporatacracy that has taken over D.C. My suggestion is this. That we use social media to create a Death/Hardship count. To the point that we create FB and Twitter in our own image ---much like the Aids quilts, we create a PHOTO diary from every state in the union of those who will die or have died, as a result of the total class warfare that is being propagated on our people - state by state. A death count if you will. A "hey these are actual fellow Americans" that are dying or are picking through garbage cans to live REALITY for those who attend the mega churches every day and call themselves "Good Christians". THROW IT in their face with a real-time death &/or hard-ship count.
Creatively done - it could have HUGE impact. It may sound morbid, but desperate times call for desperate measures. If we, DailyKos, came together as a community - we can answer the Corportacracy call. Let THEM see the death count. Let the media make it IMPOSSIBLE to ignore. The American "Dream" is dead - we have to SHOW that to the people. For those of you who think this alarmist and hyperbolic - comment as you will. I used to live in South America and I remember vividly the 1st time I saw someone pick through a garbage can to eat. The 1st time I saw it in the U.S. was in 1984 in Fort Worth, Tx - someone in a dumpster behind a Captain D's. There are beggars on every major intersection in Richmond VA now and I refuse to accept this as the "new normal". We need clever graphics, good photographers and a grass roots movement using social media. WE need to answer the Tea Party. NOW. All they have is meritocracy. Thoughts, suggestions, please.
