Watch what happens in Sept. I'm going on record now and predicting that he is going to go big. Bigger than what everyone is expecting. He's going to catch the Repubs off guard and go big when they are expecting him to put forward something scaled back and moderate.
He's laying the groundwork now and ramping it up. I know the stuff he's floating now are ideas that have been around for a while, like the trade agreements, patent reform and infrastructer bank, but I think come Sept he's going to reveal a much bigger and more ambitious plan, something that no one is expecting. I think these ideas WILL be a part of whatever he unveils, but I think the whole thing is going to be much more ambitious.
I think the reasons for floating scaled back, older ideas now are twofold. First of all, it's marketing. He's getting the discussion started before the Sept. roll out of the actual plan. He's generating interest, motivating activists and getting feedback.
Secondly, he's misdirecting his opponents as well as gauging their reactions to what's been released. He's putting them on a false scent and when Sept. rolls around and he starts the full offensive, he will catch them flatfooted and off guard. They will be chewing on something that's already been released, like the Payroll Tax cut extension.
Yup, I smell another rope-a-dope.
