Pat Robertson has insulted Christians everywhere with his Washington Monument idiocy. He didn't even bother with biblical quotes to support this nonsense. Here's why.

Ladies and gentlemen I don’t want to get weird on this so please take it for what it’s worth. But it seems to me the Washington Monument is a symbol of America’s power, it has been the symbol of our great nation, we look at that monument and say this is one nation under God. Now there’s a crack in it, there’s a crack in it and it’s closed up. Is that a sign from the Lord?
Now let me direct you to a well known verse from the bible
From http://bible.cc/...
For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
Get it, Mr Robertson? You don't get to interpret earthbound events as God's Hand. As soon as you start doing that, you have presumed to know God's mind. Which, according to 1 Corinthians 2:11 is a no-no. You are only allowed to try to understand the spirit of god. Most of the rest of the bible spells out what that spirit is. At no point does it say "look out for cracks in government monuments, for they are a sign that God is Pissed." When God is pissed in the bible, he does huge things. Like make it rain so much that the entire population of the world dies, except for a few people on a boat.
Let's just repeat the bible verse. REMEMBER, THESE ARE YOUR OWN RULES:
For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
If you look carefully at what Robertson said, he didn't actually say "The crack in the Washington Monument is a sign from God." What he actually said was: there's a crack in a national monument; part of our national motto says "one nation under God"; is this a sign from god? YOU decide!
So, rather than actually coming out and saying what he means, he instead plants this seed of an idea into millions of Christian heads. So, instead of violating 1 Corinthians 2:11 himself, he has asked millions of Christans to do it for him. Straight out of the playbook of Glenn Beck. The man is a snake oil salesman.
I personally do not believe in God. What I believe that Pat Robertson has just insulted millions of Christians everywhere. He is a fool and a partisan political hack. Certainly not a man of God.
